Head of Yemen's Presidential Leadership Council: Houthi militia rejects peace, opts for escalation and destruction
Aden, July 16 (KUNA) -- Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council Chairman Rashad al-Alimi affirmed Thursday evening that the “rebel” Houthi militias have rejected all peace initiatives and efforts to alleviate the suffering of Yemenis, particularly in areas under their control, choosing instead to escalate tensions and bring destruction.
In a message addressed to Yemeni citizens in areas controlled by the Houthi militia and posted on his official account on the X platform, al-Alimi urged them “not to let their children become fuel for futile wars that do not serve their country or their future.”
He clarified that the Yemeni Republic was established to uphold the dignity of all Yemenis without discrimination, and that real change begins with everyone aligning themselves with the project of the state, justice, and equal citizenship.
He pointed out that experiences have proven that “a policy of blackmail and escalation will bring Yemen nothing but further suffering,” stressing that the state, through all its institutions and armed forces, will continue to fulfill its constitutional duty to protect its sovereignty and safeguard the interests of its citizens. He noted that the hand of the state will remain extended to every sincere effort that achieves a just peace, ending the coup and preserving the dignity of Yemenis. (End) S.N.S.
