India hosts BRICS Labour and Employment Ministers' Meeting

New Delhi, July 15 (KUNA) -- India hosted today, Wednesday, the meeting of the Ministers of Labour and Employment of the BRICS group in the city of Hyderabad, under India’s presidency of the group. The Indian Ministry of Labour and Employment said in a statement that the meeting brought together ministers, heads of delegations, and representatives of member states of the group, as well as workers’ and employers’ organizations and specialists, to discuss key issues shaping the future of work. It noted that the meeting focused on strengthening collective action in the areas of social protection, formalizing the labor market, women’s participation in the workforce, skills development, and the use of digital technologies to build inclusive and resilient labor markets. Indian Minister of Labour and Employment Mansukh Mandaviya said the group shares a collective responsibility in shaping a future of work characterized by productivity and justice, emphasizing that “this forum provides a unique opportunity for countries of the Global South to formulate practical, comprehensive, and human-centered solutions.” He described the declaration adopted at the meeting as a successful culmination of collective efforts and a reflection of the spirit of consensus that prevailed during the deliberations.
