CENTCOM announces resumption of naval blockade on Iran

Washington, July 14 (KUNA) -- The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced on Tuesday the resumption of a naval blockade on Iranian ports, as military strikes are being conducted against Iran in response to attacks on commercial vessels near the Strait of Hormuz. In a statement, CENTCOM said, “U.S. forces have resumed the naval blockade on ships heading to or coming from Iranian ports and coastal areas, effective today at 4:00 p.m. Eastern Time.” The statement added that CENTCOM is currently deploying more than 20 U.S. Navy warships and hundreds of military aircraft in the Middle East region, emphasizing that U.S. forces remain vigilant, ready, and fully capable of delivering “decisive” strikes. Earlier today, CENTCOM announced another round of military strikes against Iran, aimed at further undermining Iran’s capacity to attack commercial navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.
