Turkish Foreign Minister and UN Secretary-General Discuss Regional and International Issues

Istanbul, July 14 (KUNA) -- Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan held talks on Tuesday with United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on a number of regional and international issues of mutual concern. The Turkish Anadolu Agency reported that sources in the Turkish Foreign Ministry said the discussion covered prospects for cooperation between Ankara and the international organization, as well as an exchange of views on developments in the region, foremost among them the situation in the Middle East and several regional files. The two sides, according to the agency, emphasized the importance of continuing coordination and consultation between Turkey and the United Nations, and supporting efforts aimed at enhancing regional stability and addressing crises through dialogue and diplomatic means, in line with the principles of international law and the UN Charter. The call comes amid escalating regional challenges and Turkey’s ongoing diplomatic outreach to international parties to explore ways to contain crises and bolster security and stability in the region.
