(Omani Maritime Security): Three oil tankers targeted off the Omani coast

Muscat, July 14 (KUNA) – The Omani Maritime Security Center announced on Tuesday that three oil tankers flying the Liberian flag were targeted in separate incidents in areas off the Omani coast. The center affirmed its continuous monitoring of the situation’s developments and the implementation of necessary measures in coordination with the competent authorities.

In a statement, the center said that the oil tanker “Bahia,” owned by Bahia Inc. based in the United Arab Emirates and flying the Liberian flag, was targeted approximately 9.6 nautical miles off the coast of the Musandam Governorate. It added that a vessel of the Royal Navy of Oman is monitoring the situation, confirming the evacuation of 18 crew members via maritime assets located near the incident site, while three crew members remain missing.

In a separate statement, the center announced that the oil tanker “Mombasa B,” also flying the Liberian flag, was targeted, resulting in the loss of its engines, approximately 8.5 nautical miles off the coast of Musandam. It clarified that a Royal Navy of Oman vessel is monitoring the situation, confirming that the evacuation of the 21-member crew, including six individuals with varying injuries, was carried out via maritime assets near the incident site.

The center also announced that the oil tanker “Stolt Magnesium,” flying the Liberian flag, was targeted, causing a fire in the engine room, approximately 40 nautical miles off the coast of the Al Sharqiyah South Governorate and outside Omani territorial waters. The center stated that it continues to monitor the situation and take necessary measures, including providing emergency supplies to the vessel.
