US President confirms imposition of a "tight" naval blockade on Iran

Washington, July 14 (KUNA) -- U.S. President Donald Trump affirmed on Tuesday that his country would impose a “tight” naval blockade on Iran, while stressing at the same time that the Strait of Hormuz remains open to commercial navigation, except for vessels bound for or coming from Iranian ports. Trump stated in a post on his platform, Truth Social, that “the Strait of Hormuz will remain open to all ships except Iran, due to its false, violent, and hostile leadership, which is leading the country toward total destruction.” He added that “the United States will impose a complete blockade, but only on ships coming from Iranian ports or bound for them, or those carrying any shipments related to Iran.” The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) had announced on Monday that it would resume the blockade on Iranian ports in the evening of Tuesday, in accordance with directives from President Trump.
