GCC Secretary-General Offers Condolences to the Emir of Qatar on the Passing of the Amir al-Walid

Riyadh, July 14 (KUNA) -- Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Jassem Al-Budaiwi paid his condolences to the Emir of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, on the passing of His Highness the Father Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani today, Tuesday, at the Lusail Palace in Doha. The Secretariat General stated in a bulletin that Al-Budaiwi conveyed his sincerest condolences and sympathies to His Highness the Emir of the State of Qatar, the esteemed ruling family, and the government and people of the sisterly State of Qatar, praying to God Almighty to envelop the deceased in His boundless mercy and pleasure, honor his resting place, and grant his family and loved ones patience and solace. According to the bulletin, the Secretary-General said that the State of Qatar and the Gulf community have lost, with the departure of His Highness the Father Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani (may God have mercy on him), a leading figure whose name is linked to a pivotal milestone in the modern history of the State of Qatar, where he led an ambitious national journey that contributed to qualitative transformations strengthening the state’s capacities, consolidating its institutions, expanding its developmental horizons, and cementing its presence and standing at regional and international levels. He added that the deceased laid down valuable and solid foundational pillars for the state’s journey, which was reflected in the continuous progress and qualitative achievements attained by the State of Qatar, as well as its launch toward further development and prosperity, along with his directives to undertake numerous developmental and humanitarian initiatives whose impact extended to many countries and societies. He also affirmed that His Highness the Father Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani (may God have mercy on him) deeply believed that the GCC system represents a comprehensive framework for the interests of its member states and peoples, and that its cohesion and consensus form the basis for protecting its gains, safeguarding its security, and continuing its progress. He stated that the late ruler was an active partner in shaping important milestones in the history of joint Gulf cooperation, contributing to supporting consultation among member states, strengthening fraternal ties among them, and enhancing the Council’s capacity to address regional and international developments.
