Muscat, July 13 (KUNA) – The Kuwaiti national volleyball team has completed its preparations for the second West Asian Men’s Volleyball Championship, which kicks off tomorrow, Tuesday, in Muscat. The tournament features seven national teams and will run until July 21.
Kuwait will play its matches at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Group A, where it will face Syria on Thursday and Qatar on Saturday.
Speaking to KUNA on Monday, Kuwait delegation head and Volleyball Federation member Ziad Al-Anazi said the team finalized its preparations in Muscat after arriving on Thursday from Cairo, where it had held a training camp.
Al-Anazi added that the ten-day camp included four exhibition matches and two games against Egypt, confirming that the camp achieved its objectives in preparing the players and enhancing their fitness and readiness following the suspension of sports activities in Kuwait due to regional developments.
He noted that the coaching staff devised a schedule for the players upon arrival in Muscat, which included morning and evening training sessions and an exhibition match against Saudi Arabia. He expressed hope that the “Blue Team” would achieve the best possible results in the championship.
The opening match of the tournament, featuring Oman and Lebanon, is scheduled for tomorrow, Tuesday, as part of Group B, which also includes Saudi Arabia and Iraq. (End) M.J.B./R.J.
