The Coalition of the Willing holds a meeting in Paris to discuss support for Ukraine and enhance efforts to achieve peace

Paris, July 13 (KUNA) -- The “Coalition of the Willing” reaffirmed on Monday its commitment to continue supporting Ukraine and working toward progress toward peace, emphasizing the importance of respecting Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and the principles of the United Nations Charter. The coalition’s position came in a statement following a meeting of its members in the capital, Paris, to discuss ways to strengthen support for Ukraine and to deliberate on efforts aimed at achieving a just and lasting peace.

The French Presidency (Élysée) stated in a press release that participants stressed the need to achieve a complete ceasefire and to advance negotiations aimed at ending the conflict, alongside continued coordination on long-term security guarantees for Ukraine. It noted that participants also reaffirmed their commitment to continuing military, financial, and humanitarian support for Ukraine and enhancing its defensive capabilities, including cooperation in air defense and countering missile threats.

According to the statement, participants pledged to continue joint efforts to accelerate progress toward a comprehensive, just, and sustainable peace.

The Coalition of the Willing was established at the initiative of the United Kingdom and France in March of last year to discuss mechanisms for strengthening peace in Ukraine. It includes more than 30 members, with European countries forming the majority. Notable participants in the meeting included Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, and delegations from Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sweden, and the United Kingdom.
