Bahrain condemns continued Iranian attacks on its territory and GCC states, and Jordan
Manama, July 12 (KUNA) -- The Bahraini Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed the Kingdom of Bahrain’s strong condemnation and denunciation of the continued, despicable Iranian attacks that targeted the territories of the Kingdom, as well as those of the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Qatar, Oman, and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. In a statement, the ministry characterized these aggressions as a serious escalation threatening the security and stability of the region, a blatant violation of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of states, and a grave breach of the rules of international law, the UN Charter, the Charter of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, UN Security Council Resolution 2817, and the principles of good neighborliness.
The ministry affirmed the Kingdom of Bahrain’s full solidarity with sister states, praising the competence of the Bahrain Defence Force, the armed forces, and air defenses of sister countries, as well as their vigilance and high level of readiness and efficiency in confronting the brazen Iranian attacks targeting civilian and critical sites and facilities using missiles and drones.
The ministry stressed the right of the Kingdom of Bahrain and sister states to take all lawful measures to defend their sovereignty, security, and stability, and to protect citizens and residents on their territories, in accordance with international law, Article 51 of the UN Charter, and the Joint Defence Agreement of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states, while committing to the highest levels of restraint and striving to resolve disputes through dialogue and peaceful means.
It renewed the Kingdom of Bahrain’s call on the international community, particularly the UN Security Council, to assume its legal responsibilities and take firm, deterrent actions against Iran’s persistent, despicable, and systematic aggressions against regional states. It also called for the establishment of an effective mechanism to ensure implementation, accountability, and compensation, in line with UN Security Council Resolution 2817 and UN Human Rights Council Resolution 61/1.
The ministry urged Iran to fully comply with its international obligations, halt its hostile operations, and guarantee freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz and the safety of vital waterways, thereby contributing to enhanced security, stability, and sustainable development in the region and worldwide.
