Pakistan Expresses Deep Concern Over Recent Events in the Region

Islamabad, July 12 (KUNA) -- Pakistan expressed its deep concern over recent developments in the region that have exacerbated regional tensions, urging all parties to exercise restraint and take immediate steps toward de-escalation and to honor their commitments under the Islamabad memorandum of understanding reached last month. In a press statement, the Pakistani Ministry of Foreign Affairs said, “We strongly support the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all sister states in the region,” emphasizing that Pakistan, for its part, remains committed to providing all necessary support to achieve lasting peace and stability in the region through dialogue and diplomacy. Last month, Washington and Tehran signed a memorandum of understanding that included a 60-day ceasefire, interspersed with negotiations aimed at reaching an agreement between the two sides. However, hostile operations resumed after Iran attacked several ships in the Strait of Hormuz earlier this week, and today it continued its reprehensible attacks on Kuwait, the Kingdom of Bahrain, the State of Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, the Sultanate of Oman, and Jordan.
