Qatari Diwan: General mourning for the death of His Highness the Amir, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, for four days

Doha, July 12 (KUNA) -- The Diwan Amiri of Qatar announced a general mourning period across the country for the late Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, may God have mercy on him, for four days starting today, Sunday, July 12, 2026. The Qatar News Agency (QNA) reported that work in ministries, other government bodies, and public institutions and entities will be suspended starting tomorrow, Monday, with employees resuming their duties on Sunday, July 19, 2026. Flags across the country will be flown at half-mast throughout the mourning period.
In a statement, the Diwan Amiri announced that the funeral prayer for the late Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, may God have mercy on him, will be held after the Maghrib prayer today, Sunday, July 12, at the Imam Muhammad ibn Abd al-Wahhab Mosque in Doha, after which his body will be laid to rest at Lusail Cemetery.
The statement added that the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, will receive condolences from foreign leaders, members of the ruling family, dignitaries, and citizens at Lusail Palace on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, July 13, 14, and 15, 2026. (End) S S S / A B K
