Egyptian Foreign Minister Discusses with His Omani and Qatari Counterparts the Implications of Military Escalation in the Region

Cairo, July 12 (KUNA) -- Egyptian Foreign Minister Dr. Badr Abdelatty held discussions with his Omani counterpart, Badr Al Busaidi, and his Qatari counterpart, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, on the repercussions of the resumption of military escalation in the region and what it represents as a serious threat to its security and stability. The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in a statement on Sunday that this came during two phone calls, during which they discussed the outcomes of the direct and indirect meetings hosted by the Omani capital, Muscat, on Saturday, as well as the efforts made to advance the de-escalation process and resume US-Iranian negotiations. The ministers, according to the statement, emphasized the importance of continuing intensive efforts to reduce tensions and return to the negotiation track, which would contribute to containing tensions and preserving regional security. They also stressed the importance of ensuring the security and freedom of international navigation in the Strait of Hormuz in accordance with the rules of international law, and of not obstructing navigation or exposing it to any risks, given the direct implications for the security and stability of the region and the global economy, while underscoring the importance of promoting political and peaceful solutions and respecting the rules of international law.
