Pakistan and Saudi Arabia Express Concern Over Escalation Between the United States and Iran

Islamabad, July 11 (KUNA) -- Pakistan and Saudi Arabia expressed deep concern over the escalating tensions in the Middle East on Saturday, despite the signing of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding between the United States and Iran, according to the Pakistani Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The ministry said in a statement that Pakistani Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar held a telephone conversation with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan, during which they exchanged views on recent developments in the region. Both ministers expressed deep concern over the escalation, despite the signing of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding between the United States and Iran in June 2026. The statement noted that the two ministers agreed that the resumption of conflict serves no party’s interests and undermines efforts to achieve regional peace and stability. For his part, the Saudi Foreign Minister reaffirmed his kingdom’s support for ongoing diplomatic efforts, emphasizing the importance of de-escalation and continued dialogue. On his part, the Pakistani Deputy Prime Minister renewed his country’s call on all parties to exercise maximum restraint and allow sufficient time and space for mediation efforts to reach a peaceful and effective outcome.
