Egypt and the Democratic Republic of the Congo discuss increasing military and security cooperation

Cairo, July 11 (KUNA) -- Egyptian Defense Minister Field Marshal Ashraf Qaher discussed with the Democratic Republic of the Congo’s Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defense, and Minister of Veterans, Ji Kabompo Mudiayviteta, ways to enhance military and security cooperation between the two countries.

The Egyptian Armed Forces stated in a statement on Saturday that the two sides discussed during the meeting developments in the regional and international arenas and their impact on security and stability within the African continent.

The statement added that Minister Qaher expressed his pride in the shared Egyptian-Congolese relations and the importance of continuing coordination and joint work to strengthen ties of cooperation and support in various fields of military collaboration.

For his part, Mudiayviteta praised Egypt’s efforts supporting all issues of the African continent, expressing his anticipation for further coordination on matters of mutual interest.

The meeting was attended by the Chief of Staff of the Egyptian Armed Forces, Field Marshal Ahmed Khalifa, and a number of military commanders from both countries. (End) A.S.M. / T.A.B.
