Turkish President confirms that his country's diplomatic initiative toward Lebanon remains ongoing

Istanbul, July 10 (KUNA) – Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan affirmed on Friday that the diplomatic initiatives undertaken by Turkey to ensure Lebanon’s security remain “ongoing.” The Turkish Presidency said in a statement that this remark was made during Erdogan’s meeting with Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam at the Vahiduddin Palace in Istanbul, where he noted that Turkey continues to support efforts to establish security, peace, and stability in Lebanon. The statement added that Erdogan and Salam discussed bilateral relations and regional issues, with the Turkish president emphasizing that Turkey attaches great importance to its ties with Lebanon and reiterating that its diplomatic initiatives to guarantee Lebanon’s security are still ongoing, and that Turkey will continue to provide all possible support, including humanitarian aid, to foster security, peace, and stability in Lebanon. In the same context, President Erdogan stressed that the development of good-neighborly relations between Lebanon and Syria would benefit the region.
