Pakistani Prime Minister to Iranian President: Necessity of Avoiding Any Steps That Threaten Regional Stability
Islamabad, July 10 (KUNA) -- Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, in a phone call with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on Friday, called on all parties to exercise restraint and avoid any steps that could threaten regional stability. Sharif reaffirmed in a statement Pakistan’s readiness to continue its role in facilitating dialogue and supporting peace efforts, emphasizing the importance of adhering to the understandings outlined in the Islamabad Memorandum to enhance cooperation and stability. For his part, the Iranian president expressed appreciation for Pakistan, reaffirming Iran’s commitment to peace and its high regard for Pakistan’s role in supporting regional stability. The two sides also discussed during the call the implementation of the outcomes of Pezeshkian’s recent visit to Islamabad and agreed to accelerate steps aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation and continuing consultations on regional issues.
