France reaches World Cup semi-finals after defeating Morocco 2-0

New York, July 9 (KUNA) -- France’s national team advanced to the semifinals of the 2026 FIFA World Cup on Thursday after defeating Morocco 2-0 in a quarterfinal match. At Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, United States, the French side outperformed Morocco technically and controlled most of the game’s flow to secure the victory and a spot in the semifinals.

France started the match strongly, creating numerous scoring opportunities against the Moroccan goal. In the 28th minute, the referee awarded France a penalty kick, but Kylian Mbappé missed the opportunity after Moroccan goalkeeper Yassine Bounou made a save.

In the second half, France continued to press Morocco, resulting in the opening goal in the 60th minute through Kylian Mbappé. His teammate Ousmane Dembélé added a second goal in the 66th minute, sealing the win and sending France into the final four.
