Istanbul, July 2 (KUNA) -- The Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly condemned on Thursday a bombing that targeted a café in the Hijaz district of the Syrian capital, Damascus, leaving several people dead and others injured. In a statement, the ministry expressed its wishes for the swift recovery of the wounded and mercy for the victims, extending condolences to the victims’ families and the Syrian people. The statement added, “We are fully convinced that the best response to such attempts aimed at obstructing the progress made toward consolidating stability and sustainable security in Syria, and by those seeking to undermine social cohesion, will once again come from the Syrian people themselves, through maintaining their unity and solidarity.” The ministry further emphasized, according to the statement, Turkey’s continued solidarity with Syria at this stage. Earlier on Thursday, Syrian authorities announced that six people were killed and 22 others injured in a bomb blast inside a café in the capital, Damascus. (End) T.A./F.A.S.
