The iconic motorcycle of the character Batman, known as the “Batpod,” is up for sale at a cinematic memorabilia auction with an estimated price of up to 900,000 pounds sterling ($1.2 million).

The motorcycle was used in the films “The Dark Knight” (2008) and “The Dark Knight Rises” (2012), in which actor Christian Bale portrayed Batman. It is being sold through Propstore auction house.

Lin explained that the motorcycle, known as “The Beast,” was designed by director Christopher Nolan himself in collaboration with production designer Nathan Crowley, while Chris Corbould, an Academy Award winner for visual effects, was responsible for turning the design into reality.

He noted that riding it was extremely difficult for actors and stunt teams, pointing out that several incidents occurred in which individuals lost control of the motorcycle, including one incident captured in a video in which the motorcycle collided with and knocked over a camera.

Lin said the motorcycle is one of six versions built, but it is the only one officially approved by Warner Bros. for sale.

He added that cinematic vehicles of this type are in high demand due to their rarity and distinctive design, describing the Batpod as one of the most impressive and memorable cinematic vehicles in public memory.

The online bidding began on Thursday and is scheduled to conclude on December 4 during a live auction in London.

The motorcycle is being offered alongside hundreds of other cinematic memorabilia items, including two full Batman suits: one worn by Christian Bale in “Batman Begins” (2005), and the other worn by actor Val Kilmer in “Batman Forever” (1995).

The collection also includes the hat and shirt worn by stunt performer Vic Armstrong in “Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom” (1984) and “Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade” (1989), as well as the sword used by Kit Harington to portray Jon Snow in the series “Game of Thrones.”

Among the items on offer is Freddy Krueger’s glove, which reached its minimum reserve price of 25,000 pounds sterling ($34,000) within hours of the auction’s start.

More than 100 items will be displayed at a preview exhibition of memorabilia at the Cumberland Hotel in London from November 19 to 22.
