Israel’s Central Elections Committee announced on Wednesday that it had found no evidence of fraud in last week’s voting, dealing a blow to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s attempts to cast doubt on the credibility of the results.
In a statement, the committee said, “The review found no evidence of irregularities that jeopardized the integrity of the elections or affected their outcomes.”
Acting Chairman of the Elections Committee, Din Levitt, stated that the committee’s investigation had examined every complaint “individually and meticulously,” but found no evidence to support claims that the election results were invalid.
Levitt added that the results, which are scheduled to be officially certified on Wednesday, “accurately reflect the choices made by voters at the polling stations.”
A spokesperson for the Elections Committee said that a separate investigation by the Israel Security Agency (Shin Bet) into allegations of foreign interference in the election is currently underway.
