Our national handball team began its training sessions yesterday evening at the Kuwait Handball Federation Hall in Al-Daiya, as part of the international break for the sport, in preparation for the 30th edition of the IHF World Men’s Handball Championship, scheduled to be held in Germany in January 2027.
National teams director Faisal Saywan told “Al-Jarida” that the technical staff, led by Icelandic coach Aron and his assistants, has selected 22 players to participate in the first gathering of the “Blue Handball Team,” which will feature intensive training over five days. The squad includes players from various clubs, except for Kuwait Club players, who are currently participating in a training camp in Cairo.
Saywan noted that the technical staff will use this gathering to evaluate the selected group and assess the extent to which its members can continue to be part of the national team in the upcoming phase.
For his part, assistant coach Ali Murad said that the technical staff is striving hard to develop the technical and physical aspects of the selected players, assess their readiness and needs in the coming period, and give as many of them as possible the opportunity to prove their capabilities and earn a spot in the national team in the near future.
