Amid ongoing attacks by Iran-backed Houthi militias on Saudi Arabia, the Ministry of Interior of the recognized Yemeni government announced that experts from Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and Lebanese Hezbollah are deploying in Sana’a, Saada, and Hodeidah.
Yemeni Interior Minister Brigadier General Ibrahim Ali Ahmed Haidan stated that 21 experts from the IRGC and Hezbollah are directing Houthi operations and threatening Yemen’s security and maritime navigation, noting that they are distributed across six governorates, including Sana’a, Saada, and Hodeidah.
Meanwhile, the Saudi-led coalition supporting Yemen’s legitimacy announced today the interception and destruction of a drone in the Makkah region, following Saudi air defenses’ interception of a ballistic missile launched by the Houthis toward the southern region and two drones in Riyadh.
The Houthis attempted to disavow targeting the site of the first revelation and the holiest places on Earth, claiming they had not carried out any operations against Saudi Arabia that day. The Iran-aligned militia had previously announced that it targeted Dammam Airport with two drones over the past 48 hours and a radar system at Jazan Airport.
In a separate development, Saudi Defense Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman discussed recent developments, efforts to de-escalate tensions and contain hostilities, the continuation of Houthi attacks on the Kingdom, and prospects for strategic defense cooperation, in a phone call with his U.S. counterpart, Pete Hegseth, yesterday.
