Data from the World Gold Council showed that demand for gold bars and coins in Kuwait rose by 14.58% during the first nine months of 2026, reaching 5.5 tons, compared with 4.8 tons in the same period last year.

According to the data, demand from citizens and residents for gold bars and coins stood at 1.8 tons in the first quarter of this year, before rising to 2.4 tons in the second quarter, then declining to 1.3 tons in the third quarter.

This growth in demand for gold bars and coins came amid a 24% drop in interest in jewelry (manufactured gold) during the first nine months of this year, reaching 5.7 tons, compared with 7.5 tons in the corresponding period of 2025.

The data showed that demand for jewelry reached 1.8 tons in the first quarter and 2.2 tons in the second quarter, before falling to 1.7 tons in the third quarter.

Despite the rise in demand for gold bars and coins, total gold purchases in Kuwait, which include jewelry, bars, and coins, declined by 8.94% during the first nine months of 2026, recording 11.2 tons, compared with 12.3 tons in the same period last year.
