Nizahah stated in a press release on Monday that this came during the speech delivered by the representative of the State of Kuwait and observer of international organizations and conferences at Nizahah, Dhafer Al-Buwaybis, at the resumed second session of the 17th meeting of the Implementation Review Group of the United Nations Convention against Corruption, held in the Austrian capital Vienna for five days.
He pointed to the completion of the implementation of the first National Strategy for Enhancing Integrity and Combating Corruption, and the continuation of efforts to prepare the second phase in alignment with Kuwait Vision 2035 and the Sustainable Development Goals, highlighting the importance of exchanging good practices, building capacities, and utilizing the review outcomes to develop national policies.
He outlined the key legislative and institutional developments related to combating corruption, including the issuance of Law-Decree No. (78) of 2026 on Combating Commercial Concealment, Law-Decree No. (79) of 2025 on International Judicial Cooperation in Criminal Matters, and Law-Decree No. (69) of 2025 amending certain provisions of Law No. (2) of 2016 on the Establishment of the Public Authority for Combating Corruption and provisions related to the disclosure of financial assets, which enhance the effectiveness of the national system and consolidate international cooperation in combating transnational crimes and asset recovery.
Al-Buwaybis reaffirmed at the conclusion of his speech Kuwait’s commitment to the provisions of the United Nations Convention against Corruption and its keenness to continue active participation in the work of the implementation review mechanism and to support international efforts aimed at developing and enhancing its impact.
