The Kuwait Club first football team will conclude its training sessions today in preparation for tomorrow’s Wednesday match against Uzbekistan’s Nasaf, in the fourth round of Group A of the AFC Champions League Two.
Kuwait currently sits in second place with six points, behind the UAE’s Al-Ittihad Kalba, who lead the group with nine points. Nasaf and Al-Khalidiyah occupy third and fourth place respectively, each with one point.
The technical staff, led by Syrian coach Firas Al-Khatib, attaches special importance to tomorrow’s match. A victory for Kuwait against Nasaf, combined with Al-Ittihad Kalba’s win over Al-Khalidiyah, would secure Kuwait’s qualification for the quarter-finals from this group alongside the Emirati side, setting up a contest for top spot between the two teams.
Recent training sessions revealed that Kuwait intends to face Nasaf using the same attacking approach it consistently employs: penetrating through the center and utilizing the wings, particularly as the squad possesses players capable of sustaining offensive pressure.
Coach Firas Al-Khatib is inclined to retain the same lineup that faced Nasaf in Qarshi last week, a match Kuwait won 1-0.
This comes amid a fully fit squad, with no injuries or suspensions affecting players, except for Mahdi Barhamah, who is suspended.
Meanwhile, a Nasaf delegation arrived in the country yesterday, where they were received by Kuwait Club officials and the public relations committee.
Nasaf began their training yesterday and will conclude it today at Jaber Al-Ahmad Stadium in Sulaibikhat, in accordance with Asian Football Confederation regulations.
In a related development, Kazma will also conclude its training sessions today at the Franso Hariri Stadium, ahead of their crucial match against Iraqi side Erbil, scheduled for tomorrow in the third round of Group C of the Gulf Club Champions League.
The technical staff at Kazma, led by Croatian coach Tadić, emphasizes the importance of tomorrow’s match in particular, and the other three matches in general, stressing the need for victory to compete for a quarter-final spot. This comes after Kazma suffered defeats against Saudi Arabia’s Al-Ettifaq (0-2) and UAE’s Ajman (1-2) in the first and second rounds respectively.
Tadić will make final adjustments to the tactics and lineup for the upcoming clash during today’s training session.
A press conference featuring the Nasaf coach and player Rozikul Berdiev will be held today at 5:00 PM at Jaber Al-Ahmad Stadium.
During the pre-match meeting, the match observer will issue a number of instructions to representatives of both teams, including specifications regarding the presence of technical and administrative staff, as well as substitute players.
