Lazio seizes top spot... Como continues winning streak

Lazio climbed to the top of the Italian football league after defeating Cagliari 2-1 in the tenth round.

Nzola gave Cagliari the lead in the 21st minute, before Isaacsen equalized in the 36th minute, with his teammate Pinamonti sealing the victory with a second goal in the 83rd minute.

Lazio moved up to 28 points to take first place, benefiting from Inter Milan’s derby loss to AC Milan, putting them three points clear.

Meanwhile, Cusco continued their winning momentum ahead of their continental clash against French side Lens in the UEFA Champions League, securing a 1-0 away victory against bottom-placed Venezia.

This marked the fourth consecutive Serie A win for Spanish manager Cesc Fàbregas’s side, and their fifth straight victory across all competitions, as they prepared in the best possible way for their match against hosts Lens in the fourth round of the competition’s new unified group stage.

The Lombard side dominated proceedings against Venezia, who sit at the bottom of the table with just three points from a single win, but failed to break the deadlock until the 43rd minute, when French captain Lucas Da Cunha converted a penalty to open his scoring account for the season.

Speaking to streaming platform DAZN, Da Cunha said: “We found it difficult to win matches like this last season.”

Como, who recorded their seventh win of the season, moved up to 23 points to maintain fourth place, closing in on third-placed Roma, who have 24 points after their 5-2 victory over Udinese on Saturday. They are now just two points behind second-placed defending champions Inter.
