Kuwait National Bank organized a comprehensive awareness discussion session for its employees, coinciding with the events of the global breast cancer awareness month, as part of its responsibility and constant commitment to enhancing the health and safety of its workforce.
The session, which saw wide participation from various departments and was presented by a cancer survivor, aimed to raise health awareness regarding the importance of early detection, break the fear barrier associated with the disease, promote a culture of prevention, and encourage a healthy lifestyle among the bank’s staff.
A simplified and scientific explanation was provided by Dr. Shatha Al-Najdi, a diagnostic radiology consultant, covering the nature of the disease, key risk factors, and early warning signs that necessitate immediate medical examination. The session also introduced the latest methods for self-examination and periodic diagnostic screening, answered attendees’ questions, and offered vital signs and body mass index (BMI) tests, along with individual nutritional consultations.
The event also announced the winners of the “Every Step Counts” challenge, organized by the bank to encourage physical activity and raise awareness about ways to combat breast cancer.
On this occasion, Afrah Al-Arbash, General Manager of Human Resources Management at the bank, stated: “We believe that human capital is our true wealth. From this perspective, we spare no effort in creating a supportive and motivating work environment for health. This discussion session reflects our commitment to our responsibilities and our dedication to spreading health awareness across the bank’s departments.”
She noted that organizing this awareness session aligns with the bank management’s priority of ensuring employee safety, emphasizing that attention to health and awareness directly impacts the professional and personal quality of life of female employees, and underscores the bank’s ongoing commitment to caring for its human resources, who are the cornerstone of its success and sustainability.
Al-Arbash encouraged employees to make periodic screenings a sustainable preventive behavior that contributes to protecting both their families and their work environment.
She added that breast cancer awareness during October is not merely an annual activity, but a noble health and humanitarian message through which the bank aims to empower participants with correct medical knowledge and guidelines that contribute to raising health awareness, reducing risks, and achieving the best recovery rates and early treatment outcomes.
She concluded: “We believe that quality of life in the work environment is an integral part of the bank’s comprehensive plans. Therefore, we ensured that this initiative is a practical step within a series of awareness programs aimed at raising the level of comprehensive healthcare. We look forward to continuing to launch quality initiatives for all our employees in the coming period.”
This event adds to the awareness program launched by the bank on its social media platforms, where numerous videos were published in collaboration with the “Be Strong” team of survivors, to provide necessary advice on how to deal with and confront the disease, and to emphasize the importance of consistently adopting a healthy lifestyle, thereby reducing the incidence rate in society.
