Al-Jahra Hospital achieved a medical milestone by being accredited by the U.S.-based Surgical Review Corporation (SRC) as a “Center of Excellence in Robotic Surgery,” while Dr. Mohammed Al-Jasmi, Head of the Surgery Department at the hospital, received accreditation as a “Distinguished Robotic Surgeon” for the period from October 2026 to 2029.
This accreditation comes amid the development of the hospital’s robotic surgery program, which launched its first procedures on April 27, 2025, and has since performed approximately 200 surgeries across general surgery, urology, and various specialized surgical fields.
In the context of collaboration among Ministry of Health hospitals, October 2025 saw three remote robotic surgeries performed on patients with uterine cancer, through a partnership between the Gynecologic Oncology Unit at Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Hospital and the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department at Al-Jahra Hospital, enabling the exchange of specialized expertise and leveraging the capabilities of remote robotic surgery.
