Araghchi wrote on a post on the X platform, “While our armed forces are on high alert, we continue to give diplomacy a chance to succeed.”
He added, “We are in close and continuous contact with mediators to explore ideas that would ensure the implementation of the seven-day plan in less than two weeks.”
Araghchi’s remarks came as Israel and the United States intensified their warnings to Iran about the possibility of resuming combat operations, amid stalled negotiations between Tehran and Washington.
In September, Iran proposed a plan calling for the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz within seven days if the “necessary conditions” were met, particularly the end of the war on all fronts in the region. However, the plan, which Tehran conveyed to Washington via Doha, was met with a U.S. rejection.
Tehran’s previous proposal also demanded the release of its frozen assets abroad, the lifting of sanctions on its oil sector, and the end of the U.S. blockade on its ports.
