Kuwait’s Foreign Minister, Sheikh Jara Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, held a meeting today, Wednesday, with the Foreign Minister of the sister Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, during Sheikh Jara’s official visit to the capital, Riyadh.
During the meeting, Sheikh Jara reiterated Kuwait’s strong condemnation and denunciation of the terrorist attacks carried out by the Houthi militia against several areas in the Kingdom, as well as their attempts to target Mecca and Medina. He emphasized that these heinous attacks constitute a blatant violation of the Kingdom’s sovereignty, a flagrant breach of international law and international humanitarian law, a clear infringement on the sanctity and religious status of Islamic holy sites, and a provocation of Muslims’ sentiments worldwide.
Sheikh Jaber stressed that the continuation and recurrence of these organized hostile acts, which involve targeting civilian infrastructure and vital facilities, represent a serious escalation and a direct threat to the security of the Kingdom and the stability of the region. He added that these actions pose grave risks to the safety of civilians and the security of air navigation, necessitating a firm international stance that ensures accountability for those responsible for these attacks.
Furthermore, Sheikh Jaber reaffirmed Kuwait’s absolute solidarity with the sister Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its support for all measures undertaken to safeguard the Kingdom’s sovereignty, security, and stability. He emphasized that the security of the Kingdom is an integral part of the security of Kuwait and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries.
The two sides also reviewed the deep-rooted historical ties and the strong fraternal relations between the two countries and their peoples, reaffirming their shared commitment to continuing to enhance bilateral cooperation and coordination frameworks across various fields and at all levels. This aligns with the directives of the wise leaderships of both countries and responds to their aspirations for greater integration and joint cooperation.
The meeting also addressed the latest regional developments and their implications for the security and stability of the region. Both sides stressed the importance of continuing Kuwaiti-Saudi consultations and coordination across various dimensions, and intensifying joint efforts to address current challenges. This is in light of the delicate circumstances the region is undergoing, driven by shared destiny and common interests, and reflecting the sister countries’ commitment to consolidating the foundations of regional security and stability.
