The Ministry of Education announced the opening of applications for funded study missions and unpaid study leaves for employees who meet the eligibility criteria, covering five plans and eleven specializations for the 2026/2027 academic year, in accordance with approved specializations and plans, both within and outside Kuwait.
In a press statement, the Ministry clarified that the Undersecretary of the Ministry issued a general circular regarding applications for study missions or leaves for Ministry employees for the 2026/2027 fiscal year. It called on all employees wishing to complete their bachelor’s degrees, who meet the conditions for study missions and leaves, to submit their applications electronically via the “Ta” platform on the Ministry’s official website (www.moe.edu.kw) within two weeks from the date of the circular’s issuance, with a final deadline of Saturday, November 7.
The Ministry noted that applicants can edit their application drafts and may cancel and resubmit their applications during the registration period. However, the ability to edit or cancel applications will cease two days before the end of the registration period, requiring applicants to review their data and ensure their applications are complete before the specified deadline.
The Ministry emphasized that the approved mission plans allow employees to complete their bachelor’s degrees through multiple pathways, including funded study missions and unpaid study leaves, whether within or outside Kuwait, in accordance with general conditions and the provisions of the Study Missions and Leaves Regulations, as well as the specific conditions for each plan, available specializations, and the regulations set by the educational institutions.
Regarding the mission plan designated for persons with disabilities, the Ministry clarified that it allows applications for funded study missions to complete a bachelor’s degree for the 2026/2027 academic year. Applicants with disabilities are exempt from the service and specialization requirements, while adhering to the provisions of the Study Missions and Leaves Regulations. They must also submit a recent certificate issued by the Public Authority for Persons with Disabilities as part of the application requirements for this plan. The Ministry added that the study leave plan for obtaining a bachelor’s degree from the University of Kuwait requires, in addition to general conditions and regulatory provisions, that the applicant holds a secondary school certificate or its equivalent, issued no more than two years prior.
The Ministry indicated that applications will be canceled if the desired specialization is unavailable or if the applicant fails to meet the university’s admission and registration conditions. It specified the available specializations under the University of Kuwait study leave plan as mathematics, physics, geology, biology, English language, Arabic language, philosophy, and artificial intelligence. It further clarified that the study leave plan for obtaining a bachelor’s degree from the Basic Education College, affiliated with the Public Authority for Applied Education and Training, includes specializations in mathematics, English language, Arabic language, and music education.
The Ministry of Education stated that applying for the study leave plan at the Basic Education College requires a secondary school certificate or its equivalent, with a minimum grade of 70 percent for recent certificates and 80 percent for older certificates for males. For females, the requirement is a minimum of 75 percent for recent certificates and 80 percent for older certificates. The Ministry confirmed that the minimum admission thresholds and higher percentages are determined by the number of seats approved by the college and any new directives issued by the Dean of Admissions and Registration at the Authority. It reiterated that applications will be canceled if the specialization is unavailable or if the applicant does not meet the admission and registration conditions.
Regarding funded scholarship programs for undergraduate studies either abroad or at private universities within Kuwait, the Ministry clarified that the available specializations include mathematics, physics, geology, biology, English, Arabic, philosophy, music education, accounting, artificial intelligence, and computer information systems. It further explained that the plan is subject to general conditions and the provisions of the scholarships and study leave regulations, as well as the requirements of the host institution. Applications will be canceled if the desired specialization is unavailable or if the admission and registration requirements are not met.
The Ministry also announced the availability of an unfunded study leave plan for completing undergraduate degrees either abroad or at private universities within Kuwait, covering the same specializations: mathematics, physics, geology, biology, English, Arabic, philosophy, music education, accounting, artificial intelligence, and computer information systems. This plan is subject to the general conditions and regulatory provisions, compliance with the admission and registration requirements of the host institution, and cancellation of the application if the specialization is unavailable or if the required conditions are not fulfilled.
The Ministry of Education emphasized its commitment to facilitating the application process and providing necessary support to employees wishing to continue their studies. It noted that individuals seeking inquiries or experiencing technical issues during registration may visit the General Administration for Development and Development in person during the registration period, located in Jabriya, Plot 2, Street 105, opposite Fahad Al-Duwairi Secondary School.
