American rapper Macklemore pledged to continue speaking out loudly against the occupation’s aggression on Gaza during the launch of his “Free Palestine” music tour, which he organized after being excluded from Ed Sheeran’s opening concert due to his pro-Palestinian statements.

The Grammy-winning rapper received a grand welcome in Dublin, where fans in the country known for its strong support for Palestine attended the event draped in Palestinian flags, wearing shirts in black, red, and green, and sporting Palestinian keffiyehs, which vendors were selling outside the venue.

Macklemore said on stage, waving the Palestinian flag for much of his performance, “I am proud to stand here in solidarity with the Palestinian people. We will continue the struggle for collective liberation until our last breath.”

He added, “Six weeks ago, it only took two words,” referring to the slogan “Free Palestine” and his criticism of the occupation government’s actions in Gaza and the West Bank during his concert at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, which led to his exclusion from Sheeran’s U.S. tour.

He continued, “These two words pose such a significant threat to some people that they prefer to remain silent rather than confront what they truly mean... Somehow, these two words have become more controversial than the suffering that made them necessary.”

The audience chanted “Free Palestine” throughout the concert held at the 3Arena. All 13,000 tickets for the event sold out within minutes.

Irish artists who had previously expressed opposition to the occupation’s actions performed in support of this cause on Monday, including singer Hozier, the rap group Nipsey Hussle, and the band BØRNS, one of the groups that withdrew from Sheeran’s tour in solidarity with Macklemore.

Palestinian singer Lina Makboul and Palestinian-American DJ Habibi’s also performed during the concert, while pro-Palestinian activists delivered speeches between performances, including actor Liam Cunningham, known for his role in the series “Game of Thrones.”

Palestinian authorities state that more than 74,000 people have been martyred in the occupation’s aggression on Gaza, which began on October 7, 2023.

Macklemore said the “Free Palestine” tour will continue this week in Paris and London, with dates for shows in the United States to be announced later.
