Eiraula pleased with victory over Brighton

Andoni Iraola, the head coach of Liverpool, expressed his great satisfaction after securing his first victory in the English Premier League at Anfield, the club’s fortress.

Liverpool earned a well-deserved 2-0 win over visitors Brighton on Sunday, in the eighth round of the prestigious competition.

Speaking after the match, Iraola said, “I am very happy, and generally pleased with this fourth (league) win. I think we faced a very strong opponent, and it was important that we started the match the way we did today. We needed a strong start, to show aggression, win second balls, dominate duels, and create danger in counterattacks.” The Spanish manager added, “I believe we achieved that, and the match was different from previous encounters where we conceded first.”

Iraola explained, “In previous matches, we had to come back from behind, but today (yesterday) our start was better, which changed the course of the game.”

He added, “If we can get the ball to him (the striker) in those areas, provide him with precise crosses, and create good chances for him, he will certainly score goals.”

He continued, “It depends on the success of a player like Bradley (Barcola) in winning individual duels, using his speed to outpace opponents, and finding the right spaces.”
