The acting governor of the General Authority for Military Industries (GAMI) in Saudi Arabia, Bandar Al-Kharif, affirmed that the Kingdom possesses the foundations necessary to enhance its status as a global industrial partner in the military sector, and to capitalize on geopolitical shifts and technological developments that are reshaping the sector’s priorities and supply chains worldwide.
Speaking at the Military Industries Forum in Riyadh on Sunday, Al-Kharif said that Saudi Arabia has built a robust industrial base in recent years under “Vision 2030,” leveraging its strategic geographic location and competitive energy prices, which provide a supportive foundation for the growth of military industries and the development of their capabilities.
He added that Saudi Arabia is well-positioned to excel in modern technologies, backed by a strong digital infrastructure and qualified national expertise, enabling the transformation of ideas and innovations into field-ready products.
He clarified that the transformations underway in the sector do not diminish the importance of traditional military equipment, which remains in active use. This underscores the need to strengthen local supply chains, enhance maintenance capabilities, and develop spare parts manufacturing, thereby ensuring equipment sustainability and improving operational readiness.
He noted that domestic demand, the Kingdom’s strategic location, and its investment capabilities enhance its attractiveness to global companies, supporting opportunities to address gaps in international supply chains amid geopolitical changes and rapid technological advancement.
Al-Kharif emphasized that GAMI is working to develop the regulatory and legislative environment, streamline the investor journey, and strengthen international partnerships, contributing to technology and knowledge transfer and enabling Saudi exports to access new markets.
In line with efforts to enhance the sector’s readiness to handle evolving dynamics, he stated that GAMI recently issued two guidance documents on risk management and business continuity, in response to developments in the region.
