The Director of the Meteorology Department, Essam Al-Ali, stated that the country experienced scattered light rainfall since Sunday morning, which is expected to continue in the coming days, with increased chances on Thursday, occasionally accompanied by thunderstorms and reduced horizontal visibility due to fog.
Al-Ali told the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) that weather maps and numerical models indicate the country will be affected by an extension of a surface low-pressure system, coinciding with an upper-level low-pressure system, leading to the proliferation of low and mid-level clouds accompanied by scattered light rainfall, which may occasionally be thunderous.
He clarified that winds will be variable in direction, shifting to light to moderate southeasterly winds that will occasionally strengthen in some areas, noting that the chances of light rain will continue to vary over the coming days.
He added that humidity will rise and persist throughout the week, with fog forming at night, particularly in coastal and agricultural areas, leading to reduced horizontal visibility. The chances of scattered rain will increase on Thursday, occasionally accompanied by thunderstorms and wind activity.
