Dr. Fadel Abbas Aziz, Acting Dean of Admissions and Registration at Kuwait University, announced that electronic applications for admission to the university for the second semester of the 2026-2027 academic year will be accepted from December 16 to 23, 2026. This applies to Kuwaiti nationals and Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) citizens who meet the admission requirements and are graduates of the unified curriculum system, the Religious Institute, and American and English schools, specifically for graduates of Kuwaiti schools only.
In a press statement, Dr. Aziz said that students from other admission categories can submit their admission applications in person at the Admissions and Registration Hall in the Sabah Al-Salem City campus between December 20 and 23, 2026, during official working hours.
He clarified that admission to all university faculties for Kuwaiti students is based on the equivalent grade point average (GPA) specified for each major, which is calculated using the results of academic aptitude tests and the secondary school certificate percentage, with the exception of the Faculty of Science, where admission is based solely on the secondary school certificate percentage.
He added that the minimum required percentage in the secondary school certificate is 70% for the scientific stream and 78% for the literary stream, provided all other admission conditions are met. He emphasized that no application with a percentage below these minimum thresholds will be accepted.
He noted that the admission approval period specified in the academic timeline for Kuwaiti students applies only to graduates of American and English schools who submitted electronic applications, and does not cover graduates of the unified curriculum system or the Religious Institute, whose admissions will be approved electronically without the need to visit the Admissions and Registration Hall.
He stated that results from the TOEFL PBT, TOEFL iBT, or IELTS exams may be counted in place of the academic aptitude test in English when calculating the equivalent GPA, provided the results are submitted before the end of the application period.
He further explained that these results can also be used to exempt students from the preparatory course, provided they are submitted during the admission approval period and no later than the end of the first week of classes in the semester in which the student was admitted.
Dr. Aziz said that if a student is unable to access the system to submit an application, an electronic link containing instructions and guidelines will be displayed. He stressed that university admission is conditional upon the accuracy of the submitted data.
He confirmed that the university reserves the right to cancel the admission of any student if required documents are not submitted or if it is proven that the data on which admission was granted was inaccurate, in accordance with the Basic Rules of Admission and Transfer at Kuwait University.
Dr. Aziz pointed out that the minimum admission thresholds for Kuwaiti students with special needs who meet the conditions are 65% for the scientific stream and 72% for the literary stream.
He clarified that these students must submit a valid disability certificate issued by the Public Authority for Persons with Disabilities, along with medical reports, and visit the Admissions and Registration Hall during official working hours to submit their applications for the second semester.
He added that students who achieved 70% or higher in the scientific stream and 78% or higher in the literary stream can submit their applications electronically through the admissions system via the link mentioned earlier.
He noted that students expected to graduate from English secondary schools must submit their admission applications electronically during the specified deadlines, and then submit their final results to the Dean of Admissions and Registration within two working days of their announcement to determine their majors and complete their registration procedures, based on the university’s minimum admission thresholds announced in the attached schedule.
He affirmed that these students’ chances of admission are equal to those of their peers who completed their documentation during the regular application period.
Dr. Aziz stated that the period for submitting applications from students transferring from other universities, as well as from students of the Public Authority for Applied Education and Training and members of the Kuwaiti Armed Forces and National Guard, begins on December 13, 2026, and continues until January 14, 2027.
He added that applications from cultural scholarship students will be accepted between December 6 and December 24, 2026.
In conclusion, he urged applicants to review the instructions and guidelines published on the university’s website, adhere to the announced application deadlines, and note that admission is final. He emphasized that no applications would be accepted after the specified period, and wished all students success.
