The General Authority of Civil Aviation announced on Thursday that the directive requiring the inclusion of fee codes for Kuwait International Airport on travel tickets is part of efforts to enhance transparency and inform travelers of the applicable fees and their respective values in a clear and detailed manner.
Abdullah Al-Rajhi, spokesperson for the Civil Aviation Authority, told the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) that the fees outlined in Directive No. 58 of 2026, issued on October 19, are not all new; some have been in effect for a while, while others were recently introduced.
Al-Rajhi clarified that the directive aims to standardize the disclosure mechanism for these fees, displaying them in detail on travel tickets so that passengers can understand the cost components they incur when making a booking.
He added that this measure is part of the Civil Aviation Authority’s efforts to protect passengers’ rights and strengthen the principle of transparency in the relationship between travelers and airlines, travel agencies, and tourism operators.
He noted that the measure also aims to enable passengers to review fee details and refer to them when necessary, including in cases of booking cancellation or ticket refund requests, in accordance with the terms and conditions applicable to the ticket and relevant regulations.
He emphasized the necessity for all airlines and travel and tourism agencies operating in Kuwait to comply with the directive by clearly and separately listing fee codes and their amounts, thereby helping to reduce confusion and enhance the clarity of information provided to travelers.
