The Saudi-led coalition in Yemen announced on Thursday that it intercepted a ballistic missile fired by the Houthi group toward the Najran region in southern Saudi Arabia.

Coalition official spokesperson Brigadier General Turki Al-Maliki stated on the X platform Thursday evening that the coalition had “intercepted and destroyed a ballistic missile fired by the so-called Houthi terrorist militia toward Najran,” without providing further details.

Earlier, the coalition announced in two separate statements that it had intercepted and destroyed five drones targeting the Riyadh and Medina regions.

Meanwhile, the Houthi group earlier in the day claimed it had launched four attacks on Saudi Arabia over a two-day period, targeting the Ministry of Defense building in Riyadh, two airports, and the headquarters of oil giant Aramco.

Two people were killed in an attack on King Fahd International Airport in Dammam, eastern Saudi Arabia, on Wednesday evening, according to the Saudi General Authority of Civil Aviation.

The region has seen heightened tensions between Saudi Arabia and the Houthi group since hostilities resumed in Yemen last July between government forces backed by the coalition and the Houthis.

In recent days, the Houthis have intensified their attacks on Saudi Arabia, coinciding with the launch of a military operation by Yemeni government forces backed by Saudi Arabia to reclaim areas under Houthi control, including the capital, Sanaa. /End/
