The General Directorate of Traffic conducted a traffic campaign targeting motorbikes used for food and delivery services, under the supervision of Major General Ahmed Al-Azmi, Head of the Traffic and Operations Affairs Sector at the Ministry of Interior, led by Major General Rashid Al-Hajeri, Director General of Traffic, and with the participation of Colonel Ayoub Fathallah, Assistant Director General of Traffic for Traffic Regulation Affairs.
The Ministry of Interior stated in a statement on Thursday that the campaign was part of ongoing security and traffic efforts to enhance traffic discipline and curb unsafe behaviors that pose risks to road users. Traffic patrols monitored violations committed by delivery riders and verified their compliance with traffic rules, regulations, and operational requirements.
The campaign identified various traffic violations, including failure to drive on the right side of the road, illegal overtaking, weaving between vehicles, mounting and dismounting from sidewalks, failing to equip delivery boxes with lighting, and not wearing reflective vests.
The operation resulted in the apprehension of several violators, who were referred to traffic detention, and the issuance of various traffic fines. Several non-compliant motorbikes and vehicles were impounded at the traffic impound lot, and necessary legal measures were taken against the offenders, including referring those subject to deportation procedures to the relevant authorities.
The ministry reaffirmed its commitment to continuing field and monitoring campaigns targeting delivery motorbikes across all regions of the country, urging riders and related companies to adhere to traffic laws and regulations to ensure their safety and that of other road users.
