As part of its efforts to enhance the attractiveness of the Kuwaiti capital market to foreign investors and to develop capital markets in line with best practices and global standards, the Capital Markets Authority participated in a series of meetings with several major global investment firms in London, the UK, from October 19 to 21, organized by the Kuwait Stock Exchange.

The Authority was represented at these meetings by Fawaz Badr Bursali, Head of Markets Sector, and Abdulrahman Yousef Al-Filakaawi, Director of Market Regulation Department.

These meetings align with the Authority’s commitment to raising awareness among foreign investment entities about the fundamentals of the Kuwaiti market, investment mechanisms, and its regulatory and operational structure, while also listening to investors’ insights and expectations.

This initiative aims to support efforts to attract foreign investments and strengthen Kuwait’s position within global indices and markets.

Bursali stated that the praise from participating foreign investment entities for the role played by the Capital Markets Authority and its partners reflects the progress made by the Kuwaiti market in enhancing transparency and competitiveness. These meetings, which received widespread welcome from those entities, underscore the importance of continuing cooperation and coordination between the Authority and market participants locally and globally to boost the attractiveness and competitiveness of the Kuwaiti market for international investors.

Participants reviewed the latest developments in the Kuwaiti capital market, particularly initiatives implemented under the Market Development Project, the launch of new investment products, and the restructuring of trading fees.

The discussions also highlighted future initiatives planned for the fourth phase of the Market Development Project, including the launch of financial derivatives and the implementation of a clearing members model.
