Kuwait defeated Al-Salmiya by a heavy 7-1 scoreline in their match yesterday, as part of the fifth round of the Zain Premier League. The victory allowed Kuwait to maintain its sole position at the top of the table with 13 points, while Al-Salmiya’s tally remained at three points, leaving them in second-to-last place.
Regarding Youssef Nasser reaching his 100th goal, Al-Khatib stated that Nasser is a great player and a clinical striker, and that achieving this milestone is wonderful and a testament to his efforts. He added that all individual records contribute to the team’s benefit, and as a coach, he focuses on all players to help them reach the desired level.
On preparations for the match against Uzbekistan’s Nasaf in the third round of Group 2 of the AFC Champions League Two, he said, “We are currently preparing for the game against Al-Thaqaba in the sixth round. After that match, we will begin preparations for Nasaf. My policy is to focus on the next match and handle competitions step by step.”
On another note, Khamis Al-Mulla, treasurer of Kazma and head of the football department, expressed dissatisfaction with Kazma’s performance against Al-Jahra, despite securing a 1-0 victory thanks to a goal by Bader Tariq.
Kazma moved up to second place temporarily with 11 points, while Al-Jahra remained on four points in eighth place.
Al-Mulla emphasized that several factors prevented Kazma from sustaining their performance level, despite achieving the most important result by winning. These included a long break, fatigue among international players, and difficult psychological circumstances affecting the squad. He expressed confidence in the coaching staff and players to return to the desired level and achieve the expected results.
