Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf, Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly, stated during his meeting with the Chief of the Pakistani Army that “we have nothing new to say, and the United States will not be able to earn Iran’s trust unless it implements the seven conditions presented by Iran in New York.”
According to Mehr News Agency, Qalibaf, during his meeting with Asim Munir on Tuesday evening, highlighted the fraternal relations between Iran and Pakistan, expressing his gratitude for the support extended by the Pakistani people and government to Iran during times of war and negotiations.
Field Marshal Asim Munir conveyed greetings from Ayaz Sadiq, Speaker of the National Assembly, and Shehbaz Sharif, Prime Minister of Pakistan, emphasizing the continuity of cooperation between the two countries.
In response to questions from the Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly regarding border issues between the two nations, Asim Munir stated that border matters are temporary and technical, and that the border between the two countries is open as of today.
During the meeting, Qalibaf also referred to the negotiation memorandum held between Iran and the United States in Islamabad, saying: “I clearly informed the U.S. Vice President there that the long history of negative U.S. actions against Iran before and after the Islamic Revolution has placed us in a state of growing distrust toward the United States. Now, with the Trump administration’s violation of the Islamabad memorandum, its repeated threats further entrench this distrust.”
Qalibaf reaffirmed that they have nothing new to say, and that the United States will not be able to earn Iran’s trust unless it implements the seven conditions presented by Iran in New York.
He stated that they are not advocates of war, but are fully prepared to defend their homeland and national dignity, adding: “Threats and military maneuvers cannot influence the strategic decisions of the Islamic Republic of Iran. The United States has entered this quagmire due to its miscalculations and its war against Iran, and it must now take the necessary steps to exit it.”
