Kuwait’s Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for European Affairs, Ambassador Najib Al-Badr, affirmed the robustness of Kuwait-Czech relations, noting their continuous development across various fields. He praised the depth of the partnership between the two countries and their commitment to enhancing cooperation in ways that serve their mutual interests.
This statement came during Al-Badr’s participation in a reception hosted by the Czech Embassy in Kuwait to mark Independence Day. The event was attended by State Minister for Communications and Information Technology, and Acting Minister of Media and Culture, Omar Al-Omar, along with several ambassadors, diplomats, and accredited military attachés, as well as officials and prominent figures.
Al-Badr expressed Kuwait’s aspiration to strengthen its bilateral ties with the Czech Republic, particularly in economic, commercial, investment, and defense sectors, highlighting numerous opportunities that both sides seek to explore to serve their shared interests.
He emphasized the importance of enhancing regional and international consultations on issues of common concern, noting that dialogue and diplomacy form the foundation for consolidating security and stability in the region. He expressed confidence that the coming phase would witness many initiatives and achievements in relations with the Czech Republic and with the European continent.
Regarding defense cooperation, Al-Badr noted that collaboration between the two countries covers several areas, including defense, economy, and investment. He pointed to the development of Czech defense capabilities, which he personally observed during his recent visit to Prague.
For his part, Czech Ambassador to Kuwait, Juraj Chmel, affirmed the strength of bilateral relations and both sides’ commitment to continuing their development. He noted that the holding of the fifth round of Czech-Kuwaiti political consultations in October, despite the security challenges facing the region, reflects the resilience of the partnership between the two countries. In his speech at the event, Chmel expressed appreciation for the historical relations linking the two countries since the 1960s. He also conveyed deep sorrow over the Iranian attacks on Kuwait earlier this year, offering sincere condolences on behalf of his country and the embassy to the families and relatives of the victims.
Chmel reaffirmed Czech solidarity with the Kuwaiti people and leadership during these difficult times, stressing his country’s support for Kuwait and honoring the memory of those who lost their lives, while expressing hope that they may rest in peace.
