The Technical Committee of the Municipal Council, chaired by Engineer Manira Al-Amir, approved the Kuwait Petroleum Corporation’s request to delineate the boundaries of the existing oil complex site in the Shuwaikh area, covering an area of 64,591.94 square meters. This approval was conditional upon coordination with the Ministry of Finance, represented by the State Property Contracts Administration, and authorized relevant departments to make necessary adjustments to dimensions or area within the approved limits in case of conflicts with infrastructure services or regulatory requirements.

The Chairperson of the Technical Committee of the Municipal Council stated that the committee discussed several regulatory, urban planning, and heritage-related transactions during its meeting. These included the reorganization of plots in the Al-Sadiq area, a request to establish a diwaniya in the Fahaheel area, the approval of the boundaries of the existing oil complex site in Shuwaikh, and the establishment of a marine base to display the Al-Ghazir boat within a heritage maritime museum.

She clarified that one of the key topics addressed by the committee was the final approval of a request to reorganize 23 residential plots in the Al-Sadiq area into a single plot with a total area of 10,067 square meters. This decision was made after completing the legal procedures related to public announcement and allowing interested parties to submit their comments and objections in accordance with applicable regulatory conditions and controls.

She added that the approval was granted in accordance with specified controls, including compliance with service authority requirements. The concerned party is required to bear the costs associated with relocating or modifying services, if any. Relevant departments are authorized to make necessary regulatory adjustments in case of conflicts with infrastructure services or regulatory requirements.

The committee also discussed a request to establish a diwaniya in the Fahaheel area, covering an area of 1,000 square meters. The technical opinion approved the request subject to specific conditions, most notably designating the plot exclusively for use as a diwaniya, limiting construction to a basement, ground floor, and first floor, adhering to prescribed heights, and obtaining final approval for architectural plans and setbacks from neighbors in accordance with the private residential system.

On the heritage front, the committee referred a request submitted by Al-Awael Hotels Company regarding the construction of a concrete marine base to house the Al-Ghazir boat, owned by the Radisson Blu Hotel, within the existing heritage maritime museum located in front of the hotel facing the sea. The matter was referred to the Executive Body of Kuwait Municipality to provide a detailed technical study. The transaction noted that the boat has been out of service for over 35 years since its construction, and the request aims to restore and preserve it as part of Kuwait’s maritime heritage by placing it on a marine base measuring 15 by 50 square meters.

The Chairperson of the Technical Committee of the Municipal Council emphasized that these transactions reflect the diversity of files reviewed by the committee, ranging from regulating land use and adhering to planning conditions to supporting the preservation of heritage landmarks and monitoring sites with service and strategic nature, all while complying with the procedures and controls governing each transaction.
