Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed on Monday that Israel would not hesitate to strike its enemies “at the moment it becomes necessary,” a day before the elections in which he aims to secure a new term.
In a recorded statement filmed at an undisclosed air base, Netanyahu said, “We have the readiness, the resolve, and the capability to strike our enemies whenever it becomes necessary.”
Following Hamas’s October 7, 2023, attack on southern Israel, Israel has engaged in multiple conflicts on several fronts, most notably against Hezbollah in Lebanon and against Iran.
Netanyahu leads one of the most right-wing governments in Israel’s history and is seeking to preserve his political future and win a new term in the elections scheduled for October 27.
On Sunday, Netanyahu urged undecided voters to “listen” to U.S. President Donald Trump, who declared his “full and unconditional” support for him in the elections.
Referring to Trump’s remarks, the Israeli prime minister said, “We have accomplished extraordinary things together. We crushed Iran, we crushed the Iranian axis, and we removed the direct threat” posed by Iran’s nuclear program.
Netanyahu emphasized this point, stating, “This is the most important standard (...) It is a matter of Israel’s survival... This is what the outcome of these elections hinges on.”
