Saudi authorities warn Riyadh residents of hostile aerial threat

Saudi authorities sent an alert via mobile phones to residents of the capital, Riyadh, on Monday warning of an “enemy air threat,” according to AFP journalists, as Iranian-backed Houthi attacks on the kingdom have continued for more than two weeks.

The alert read: “The area is facing an enemy air threat. Please remain calm and stay at home or in a safe place away from windows and doors.”

Last week, Houthi attacks reached an unprecedented range, including several strikes on Riyadh Airport. One of these attacks killed 13 people and injured hundreds on Saturday, marking the most severe assault on Saudi soil in over a decade. In total, 20 people have been killed in attacks targeting Saudi airports since the beginning of this month.
