The Ministry of Education announced the opening of registration for the national “Trainee Teacher” program for Kuwaiti citizens holding non-educational university degrees in various required specialties. Registration remains open until October 22 via the “Dal” electronic platform.
In a statement, the Ministry explained that the program aims to prepare qualified national cadres in educational and professional competencies, aligned with the needs of schools for the 2026/2027 academic year. It emphasized that the initiative is part of efforts to develop the teacher preparation system and link the recruitment of educational staff to the needs of the educational field. The program provides Kuwaiti citizens with non-education degrees (excluding graduates of the Faculties of Education and Basic Education) in required specialties with the opportunity to join a qualification program that combines theoretical preparation with practical field training. This approach aims to build the professional and educational competencies necessary for teaching and to enhance readiness before entering classrooms.
The Ministry clarified that the determination of required specialties and quotas is based on a study of schools’ needs for educational staff, ensuring that qualification opportunities are directed toward fields requiring qualified national cadres. This aims to achieve a balance between the number of teachers and the actual needs of the educational system. It noted that restricting applications to Kuwaiti citizens enhances the prospects of preparing national cadres capable of contributing to the development of the educational process.
The Ministry specified that the total number of positions available across all announced specialties is 1,020 teachers and educators, reserved exclusively for Kuwaitis. Registration is open to citizens whether they are registered with the Civil Service Bureau as job seekers or not, provided they meet the approved regulations and conditions for joining the program. The Ministry stressed that submitting an application does not guarantee final acceptance, as candidate selection depends on meeting the prescribed conditions and the Ministry’s needs in the specified specialties.
The Ministry outlined the eligibility criteria for the program, which include being a Kuwaiti national, not exceeding 35 years of age at the time of application, holding a bachelor’s degree in one of the required specialties, submitting a certificate of good conduct issued by the Ministry of Interior, providing a drug test result, and passing the designated medical examination, in accordance with approved regulations and procedures.
The Ministry explained that the “Trainee Teacher” national program spans one academic year and follows a qualification track combining 45% theoretical instruction with 55% field training. This structure is designed to enable participants to acquire the necessary educational and professional knowledge and skills and apply them in real educational environments under supervision and evaluation, thereby enhancing their ability to handle the demands of educational work.
It added that passing the program requires achieving a minimum success rate of 75% according to approved evaluation standards. This ensures the preparation of cadres possessing the essential competencies required for the teaching profession, contributes to improving performance quality within classrooms, and raises the professional readiness of participants before completing the requirements for work in the educational sector.
The Ministry emphasized the necessity for applicants to review all conditions and obligations associated with the program before completing registration procedures. It clarified that an applicant currently holding a position must submit their resignation from their current employer upon acceptance into the program, in accordance with approved procedures. The Ministry further confirmed that enrollment in the program does not guarantee appointment, and that the Ministry is not obligated to appoint or assign individuals who fail to successfully complete the program. This underscores the need for applicants to fully understand the nature of the program and its requirements before deciding to enroll.
The Ministry of Education invited eligible candidates who meet the specified criteria and hold the required qualifications to submit their applications through the “Dal” electronic platform during the designated period from Sunday, October 18, to Thursday, October 22, 2026. Applicants are required to provide accurate information and submit all necessary documents in accordance with the published guidelines, and to regularly monitor the platform for the latest updates regarding applications and admission procedures.
The Ministry affirmed that the National “Trainee Teacher” Program represents one of the developmental initiatives aimed at building a sustainable teacher preparation system based on professional qualification, competency standards, and actual needs. This initiative seeks to enhance the participation of national talents in educational development and support the training of qualified Kuwaiti male and female teachers who can contribute to improving the quality of educational outcomes and achieving the objectives of the educational system.
