The Kuwait Water Association participated in the executive committee meeting held in Abu Dhabi, attended by executive leaders, decision-makers, and international experts in the water and energy sectors.

Salah Al-Muzaini, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Kuwait Water Association, emphasized that the association’s participation in specialized international forums aligns with the “New Kuwait 2035” vision and the state’s directions aimed at enhancing water security and supporting scientific research and innovation. He noted that the meeting, which is part of preparations for the next session of the conference, discussed strategic directions and future priorities for the utilities sector on a global level.

Al-Muzaini clarified that the association’s participation coincides with escalating international efforts to enhance water security and prepare for the convening of the 2026 UN Water Conference in Abu Dhabi next December, reflecting the growing importance of water issues on the global agenda. He stressed that the association underscores the importance of maintaining Kuwait’s presence in international forums and strengthening scientific cooperation and knowledge exchange, thereby supporting the State of Kuwait’s aspirations toward a more sustainable future with enhanced water security.

He emphasized the importance of strengthening cooperation between research institutions and relevant stakeholders, and leveraging international expertise to develop scientific and technical solutions that improve the efficiency of water resource management and ensure their sustainability for future generations, reaffirming the association’s role in supporting specialized research and enhancing knowledge exchange regionally and internationally.

For her part, Hiba Abbas, the association’s Technical Advisor and Chair of its Sustainability Committee, and a member of both the Executive and Technical Committees of the 2027 World Water and Wastewater Conference, stated during the meeting sessions that rapid global transformations, including technological and geopolitical developments and growing demand for water and energy, necessitate adopting an integrated strategic vision for the future of the utilities sector.

She explained that this vision must focus on enhancing infrastructure resilience throughout its lifecycle, from planning and design to operation and development, ensuring the sustainability of essential services and their capacity to face future challenges.

She added that the next phase requires strengthening integration between the water and energy sectors, leveraging artificial intelligence and modern technologies, and adopting a triple-bottom-line sustainability concept that balances social, environmental, and economic dimensions.

She affirmed that the strength of infrastructure is measured not only by the volume of investments or the speed of project implementation, but by the wisdom of planning and its ability to achieve resilience, security, and long-term sustainability.
