Al-Qadsiah’s first football team defeated Bangladesh’s Fortis 3-0 in their match on Saturday at the Mohammed Al-Hamad Stadium, in the opening round of Group 3 of the AFC Challenge League.
In another match in the same group, Tajikistan’s Regar-TadAZ beat India’s Goa 2-1.
Al-Qadsiah topped the group standings with three points, ahead on goal difference from Regar, which finished second with the same number of points, while Goa and Fortis occupied third and fourth place, respectively, without any points.
The group winners, along with the best second-placed team across the three groups in the West Asia region, will advance to the quarter-finals.
The first half was of good quality, with both teams exchanging attacks, although Al-Qadsiah held a clear advantage. Moroccan striker Hamza Khaba broke the deadlock by scoring in the 20th minute from a penalty kick.
Al-Qadsiah players continued their strong performance in the second half, and substitute Ayoub El Khadri delivered the final blow to Fortis by scoring the second goal in the 71st minute, assisted by Hamza Khaba.
Al-Qadsiah showed their teeth and attacked fiercely. Captain Bader Al-Mutawa struck a powerful shot that rebounded to Ayoub El Khadri, who shot again, but the crossbar denied him his personal second goal and Al-Qadsiah’s third.
In a brilliant attack in the 90th minute, Bader Al-Mutawa and Hamza Khaba exchanged the ball with great skill, and it ended up with Abdullah Al-Mutawa, who finished with a precise left foot into the net of goalkeeper Sujak to score the third goal.
